What Spatial Setup is
Spatial Setup is an independent editorial project about everyday technology. Every day we use keyboards, touchscreens, wireless networks, batteries and satellites without thinking about the ideas that make them work. Our goal is simple: turn that curiosity into understanding, one clear explanation at a time.
The site combines two things. First, in-depth articles that explain how a technology works, where it came from and what it cannot do. Second, an interactive quiz that lets you check your understanding, with an explanation and a source after every answer.
What you will find here
- 30 in-depth articles across six categories, each with references to institutional sources.
- 180 quiz questions, each linked to the article and the source that support the answer.
- A daily challenge with ten questions that are the same for everyone on a given date.
- Personal records saved only on your device. There are no accounts and no rankings.
Principles
- Accuracy first. We prefer stable principles, documented history and standards over numbers that go out of date. Claims that we cannot support with a reliable source are left out.
- Sources you can check. Articles list their sources at the end, and quiz answers link to the source behind them. Read more on Sources and methodology.
- Original writing. Our articles and questions are written for this site, not copied or closely paraphrased from other publications.
- Privacy by design. The site does not ask you to register, does not use advertising or tracking scripts and does not set cookies. See the Privacy policy.
- Honest corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See the Corrections policy.
How the project is funded
Spatial Setup currently runs without advertising, sponsorships or affiliate links. If that ever changes, we will update this page and the Privacy policy first, label any commercial content clearly and keep it separate from editorial content.
